Silent Reading
During P5, there will be silent reading for the first 15 minutes of the lesson for Year 9 and Year 10 classes.
In my class, I prefer you to read OFF SCREEN
You spend all day on your screens in classes. You need to learn to read without a screen and background distractions like music and videos.
Everything. Numbers in maths are easy, but people struggle with reading the questions and information. Practicing your reading will make you better at maths.
Sometimes in life we need to do the things we don't like doing. All of your exams will require you to read information and this is a good way to practice for short periods of time
Then you need more practice. Lots of people struggle with reading. It's a reason to try harder, not quit.
If you find reading boring, you need to read something new.
Read a book.
If that doesn't work, read another book.
Read an easier book.
Read a bigger or shorter book.
Read a different genre of book.
Or read something else.
Read a graphic novel.
Read a comic book.
Read a magazine.
Read an article.
Read a newspaper.
If you're finding the thing that you're reading boring - read something else.
It means you need to read more, not less.
