The most important standard that we work towards in this class Numeracy Common Assessment.
This is worth 10 credits and is important for passing NCEA.
The next opportunity to take this is in Week 8 of Term 3
What do I need to do to pass?
There are three things you will be assessed on for your Numeracy:
Choosing your strategy and deciding how to tackle the questions. We can't tell you what to do, you must decide for yourself.
Showing your workings. Having the right answer isn't enough, you must have the calculations to prove yourself and show that you didn't just guess or copy someone else.
Making decisions and justifying your answers. You need to use info from the graphs or your calculations to make choices and say WHY you think so.
We will revise a range of topics including:
Measurement (Metres, Litres and Gram)
Negative Numbers (Temperature and Finances)
Area, Perimeter and Volume
Percentages (Tax and Sales)
Fractions and Ratio (Sharing and Proportions)
Graphs (Bar Charts, Line Graphs and Pie Charts)
Averages and Range (Mean, Median, Mode and Range)
