The Greenwood PTA is fortunate to have the support of our community members. These organizations and individuals work across the county, state and community at large.

What We Know

The Greenwood PTA is aware that the Freedom Center, owned by USR holdings, has purchased two properties neighboring the school for use as a residential treatment center for recovering addicts.

Within the Montgomery County Council, the Greenwood community is represented by District 7 Councilmember Dawn Luedtke. Councilmember Luedtke's office has shared the following information with us regarding these properties, per their inquiry to the Department of Permitting Services:

"This usage is permitted by right in the R200 zone."
"The State, not the County, issues licenses for these facilities."
"Each property is permitted to house eight individuals."

The PTA is aware that the Tanterra HOA recently held a meeting where the Executive Director / Co-Founder of the Freedom Center was present. It is our understanding that specific information about the planned use as a residential treatment center was shared.

The PTA is aware that Councilmember Luedtke's office hosted a community meeting on March 24.
