Classroom Expectations
I have one rule in my classroom: Respect. In addition to policies as outlined in the Hillcrest Student Handbook, the following procedures apply in my classroom:
· Tardies – You are to be in your seat when the bell rings. If the door is locked when you get to class, you are tardy and should report to the attendance office to get an admit slip.
· Entering the classroom – You will have a para empezar (warmup) on the Promethean board every day. You are expected to write the question and answer it to the best of your ability in your binder.
· Asking questions – Students are expected to raise their hands to ask a question. Questions related to the material are always welcome.
· Hall passes – Students should be using their time between classes for restroom breaks, errands, etc. Each student will receive three (passes) per nine weeks to use for personal reasons. The
· Talking – When others are talking (including myself, classmates, and guest speakers), you should not be speaking.
· Walking – If you need to sharpen your pencil, throw away trash, blow your nose, etc., you do not need to ask permission, but avoid creating unnecessary distractions. ( follow the mask rule at the bottom of the page.
· Food, drinks, and gum – Students may drink water in class. All other food and drinks are prohibited. Gum is not permitted.
· Cell phones and electronic devices – All electronic devices should be turned off and kept out of sight during the school day. If I see it or hear it, I will take it. Phones will be turned in to administration. Per school policy, failure to give a phone to a staff member will result in a minimum 3 day suspension.
· Classroom citizenship – I have zero tolerance for name-calling, teasing, bullying, or cursing. If you feel you are being bullied, please see me right away.
· Physical contact – Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
