The PSAT measures verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities enabling students to estimate future potential performance on the SAT. The PSAT also provides entry into competition for important national scholarship and recognition programs.
College bound sophomores and juniors should see their counsels in September to register for the test.
ACT / SAT:
The ACT is an assessment test that measures a students skill in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science reasoning. The SAT Reasoning Test assesses student reasoning based on knowledge and skills developed by the student in school course work. The test is made up of separately timed critical reasoning, mathematics and writing sections. Preparation for the SAT should include practice through taking the PSAT and enrollment in rigorous, challenging high school courses.

In addition to this day for our 3rd year students, the ATC and SAT is offered several times during the year. Students register online and may choose to take the test at any available location. Information regarding the ACT and SAT including testing dates, location, preparation and registration can be found at www.act.org for the ACT and www.collegboard.org for the SAT.

Dual Enrollment
Early College allows students to take college courses while in high school. Students who are enrolled in high school and enrolled in one or more college classes are participating in "dual enrollment" and may earn college credits while they are still enrolled in high school. In a lot of cases, the college credits students earn through a dual-enrollment experience can be used to satisfy high school graduation requirements as well, which is referred to as "dual credit."
Travelers Rest High offers dual-credit courses in partnership with GTC. In some cases, students take dual-credit courses online or on a GTC campus, alongside regular college students. We also offer several classes on our campus here at TRHS. Sometimes our teachers teach the classes on our campus, and sometimes a GTC instructor comes to teach these classes. The course selection differs year to year.
For the 25-26 school year, we hope to offer the following GTC courses on campus at TRHS:
ENG 101, ENG 102, SOC 101, PSY 201, SPC 205 (Public Speaking)
