Informational text / Research

As part of unit 2, students switch from Greek mythology to informational text. While reading Get Lost, Odysseus, informational articles are mixed in to give the students more background knowledge on Greek history. However, once we dive into informational text, the class goes over the author's purpose, text features, and text structures. The students read articles during this time and are later asked to display their knowledge by creating an infographic.

Once students have gone through the process of identifying the author's purpose, text features, and text structures, on multiple articles, they are then set to complete their own research and find information to complete a research project. The project allows the students to use and display all the skills they have obtained in class. When completing the projects, the students also review how to create a topic sentence and MLA Format.
