For Parents

Communication with Parents

Communication with parents is done in several way. We send home Quarterly and interim progress notes ever 4.5 weeks. We conduct an annual review conference yearly. You are free to email me or call me. I will also include a parent communication sheet in your child’s notebook, please feel free to leave notes in there.

Doing homework is essential to your child’s progress. Please keep homework sheets in his homework file and practice them. Your child will make great progress the more your practice their homework assignments. Without consistent practice you will not see changes in your child’s progress. Your child earns extra points for signed homework and good behavior, which leads to a trip to the PRIZE BOX.

Assessment Procedures

The students who are served in the Speech/Language Program have been evaluated by a Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) and have qualified for placement based on eligibility criteria determined by district, state and federal guidelines. Local guidelines are available through Speech/Language Pathologist assigned to each school. Formal and informal assessments are used to develop annual IEPs with appropriate goals and objectives. An individual criterion for master of each objective is included in the IEP, as are methods by which mastery will be assessed. In addition, all students must meet the attendance requirements of the district.

Weekly and daily data sheets will be used to track progress. Criterion-referenced tests may be administered periodically to measure progress. This progress will be reported to parents at the end of each quarter.

Reporting to parents will be done at least quarterly through progress reports, narratives, phone calls, and/or conferences. goals and objectives on the IEP will be updated quarterly and the results of students progress will be provided to their parent/guardian. Evaluations to measure progress may include criterion-referenced tests, standardized tests, teacher observations/checklists, therapist observations and/or therapy data.

A Speech/Language Reevaluation/Review Plan will be conducted at least once every three years.
