Course Description

Grades 9 - 12

Art 2 Honors will prepare the highly motivated art student for the rigor of upper level art classes (3H, 4H, AP Studio). Students will develop an understanding of visual arts concepts as they relate to the development of personal style. This course provides students a variety of in-depth two and three-dimensional design experiences. Students will apply these principles in individual artistic expressions. Advanced drawing from observation, participation in art exhibits, and technical competency are emphasized. Peer critiques and the regular maintenance of a sketchbook and portfolio are required. The pace is accelerated and expectations in problem-solving, application of techniques, and craftsmanship are high. The portfolio of work expected at the end of the Art 2 Honors course should exhibit growth and development of a personal style.

Pre-requisite: (1) Complete Art 1 and/or (2) Obtain a teacher recommendation 

Art Fee:

Students will be required to pay a $15 Art fee. This fee will be used to purchase supplies needed to create the projects within the course. This can be paid on Schoolbucks.

Supplies Needed: 

These supplies are for the students' own personal use. Only the student purchasing these items will be allowed to use them. They are meant to be kept in the student’s personal art drawer or inside of the student’s bookbag. I am requiring these basic supplies so that students may complete their homework or finish projects at home if needed. 

• 8.5 x 11 Sketchbook (for Art 2 and Art 3 Honors)

• Colored Pencils

• Drawing Pencils (At least ranging from a 4H to 6B)

• Markers

• Black Permanent Markers (Normal and Thin)

• Pencils (#2 or Mechanical)

• Lead for Mechanical Pencils (if preferred)

• Eraser

• Pencil Sharpener

• Ruler
