Hello, my name is Sarah Jones. I am originally from Newark, Ohio. I moved to South Carolina in 1999 to attend college at Bob Jones University. I graduated in December of 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education. After graduation, I taught at Mauldin High School during the 2004-2006 school years. In 2006, my husband and I had our first son, Trevor. I continued to teach after Trevor was born and subbed in art, drama, and special education at MHS the 2006-2007 school year. In 2007, I had our second son and I decided to work from home, while raising our family. My husband and I have 4 children, Trevor (19), Peyton (17), Blake(15), and Renea(12).
We live on a small farm just north of Greer. On our farm we raise turkeys and chickens. I also like to work in my vegetable garden. I grow strawberries, blueberries, summer squash, zucchini, green beans, collards, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers,.
While away from the classroom, I continued my love of art and teaching through leading art camps, private lessons, and after school art classes. I also illustrated a children's book for author Katie Cruice Smith, which was released November 2017, entitled Why Did You choose Me? In addition, I created artworks along with artists, Matt Tarr, Adam Burgess and Lauren Runion, on display and for sale at the Marble Slab Creamery in downtown Greenville. Both John Roberts and Joe Everson have also had their works on displayed at the creamery. Please stop by and see our works!
This my first year teaching at Woodland Elementary, but not my first year in elementary. I have had the privilege to work with and support some amazing teachers at Brook Glenn Elementary, Paris Elementary, Duncan Chapel Elementary, Taylors Elementary, Hollis Academy, and Crestview Elementary. I am excited for the new school year to share my love of art with your little artists!
It is a joy to teach and work in a community of fine arts teachers that support and collaborate with one another. The 2021-2022 school year brought many exciting new opportunities for mural artworks! Here are some photos of the Mauldin High School Band Props that Sherry Smith and I created. A special thanks to Dr. Adam Scheuch for this opportunity!
The fall 2022, I had the unique opportunity to work with artist, Joe Everson, to create his Mad Hatter design for Blue Ridge High School Marching Band's exhibition of Mad World 2022. My husband, Darren Jones, designed and built a 12'x12' artwork with 9 wooden panels for the Mad Hatter to be painted on. Joe's son plays the trombone in the band. Darren and I have two sons who play saxophone and clarinet. Thank you Keylee Rey , band director at Blue Ridge High, for this opportunity to share our love of the arts with our community! This 12' x 12' installation is on display in the music room at Brook Glenn Elementary.
The fall of 2022, art teachers of Greenville County Schools were able to display an artwork for the month of November at the Artist Guild Gallery in Greenville. Below is my entry entitled: Main Street. You can see this piece on displayed at the Marble Slab Creamery on Main St. in Greenville.
In November of 2023, annual art teachers of GCS displayed artworks again at Artist Guild Gallery. Beside the Main St painting is my newest acrylic entitled: Willow. Like the Main St. painting, Willow can also be seen hanging in Marble Slab Creamery. All of my artwork that is on display at Marble Slab is for sale.
