Riverside High School is proud to offer three sections of String Orchestra that meet as regular classes during the school day. These have been sorted by general ability level to give students a space to be challenged and for them to grow. Placement is determined by recommendation from Mr. Harbison or the student's former orchestra instructor.
Freshman Orchestra performs primarily Grade 3 & 4 repertoire. This class will have a strong focus on technical development. Membership in this course is open to any students with prior orchestra experience.
Concert Orchestra performs primarily Grade 4 & 5 repertoire. This class will continue elaborating on technical development while further expanding on musical expression and ensemble performance.
Honors Orchestra performs primarily Grade 5 & 6 repertoire. Students in this class have shown themselves to be committed orchestra members. Membership in this ensemble is by audition. Alternately, if a student has been selected to participate in 9-12th grade Region Orchestra, they are eligible.
All ensembles at Riverside will perform at least 3-4 times per year.
