This is an exciting time, as all of our sixth-grade students are brand new to Hughes, beginning their very first middle school experience. Whether your child is feeling curious, nervous, or ready to dive in, we want you to know: you’re not alone, and we’re in this together as a Cougar family.

At Hughes Academy, our sixth-grade students are grouped into three dynamic academic teams: the Yellow Team, the Red Team, and the Blue Team. Each team consists of four dedicated teachers who work closely together to support students academically and socially as they adjust to middle school life.
Our immersion students will follow the schedule of the Blue Team, where they will be supported through a structured, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that meets their individual needs.
Ms Primus-Brown (Ms. Brown), our Sixth Grade Assistant Principal, is leading the way with a focus on student growth, structure, and success.
Also supporting your child is Mrs. Tenholder, our compassionate and accessible Sixth Grade School Counselor, who is here to help students with everything from friendships and feelings to organization and school success.
