The STAR program is for students who have been held back a grade level to catch up and fight the graduation rate drop off. A common assumption is this only happens because of poor grades, but that is false. Moving and a language barrier are also very common reasons. Regardless, this is a great opportunity with no shame involved. These students go through 7th & 8th in one year with a full support system to make it as rewarding, and less overwhelming as possible.
This is for hard working students with a ton of extra incentives to go along with the increased workload and high expectations. There are grade and behavior requirements to make sure students are set up for success after graduating to 9th grade.
Please reach out to me using the contact info below if you're a 6th grader with any questions.
