I choose to be a teacher, and be at Tanglewood specifically because we live in a flawed world but there is hope. I believe these students can make the choices necessary to improve policies/decisions by successfully joining whichever career field they prepare for. Plus, I see my middle school self in their mindsets & actions on the days of success and struggle. Like most people I made mistakes in my youth, but thanks to people caring about me I was the first person in my immediate family to graduate college. I am honored to be one piece of the support system that motivates these students to focus on their future, instead of succumbing to the distractions they face daily. Whatever career these students want to excel at, I strive to harness their specific potential to be the best they can be.
My mantra is high standards but no expectations. I have high standards of work ethic and my students potential for success in every class I’m about to cover. However, I have no expectations of who each student is, their interests, etc. I look forward to getting to know y’all and whatever you’re passionate about. We will harness that in every class to make real world connections that motivate them.
I'm a Texan who's far from home in Dallas, but really enjoy life here in Greenville! I graduated from Texas A&M with an accounting degree that I hope my job never centers around. I use my free time to go rock climbing, play in lakes, and almost every other outdoor activity. I also enjoy binging TV shows and most things comic book related. I'm married to the best teacher at Berea Elementary, Coach Popores. We're thankful for a son and daughter that I hope you all get to meet at your games or other events throughout the year.
Any form of gummy candy is the secret to an A+ in my class! (completely kidding)
