General Music

Welcome, Fisher Families!

This year, I am offering General Music. I am a firm believer in raising the “student musician,” with the student coming first. I believe that music classes are vital in their academic life, as they develop interpersonal skills all while learning a new craft! While this course is labeled General Music, I like to see this as "Introduction to Orchestra" -  an opportunity to learn a musical instrument in a safe, supportive, and fun environment!

Now, if your child enjoys this class, I encourage them to look into registering for Strings! To clarify - Strings is a year long class while "Intro to Orchestra" is only 9 weeks (6th grade) or a semester long (7th grade). If your child wishes to sign up, please let me know so I may inform our grade level counselors. 🙂

As a last fun pitch - our Strings students traditionally do two performances - Winter/Spring Concert. Other opportunities, such as Solo/Ensemble are offered. To celebrate our hard work, we go to Carowinds in May!

I look forward to this opportunity to teach your child musical skills, but also life skills needed when they leave the walls of Fisher Middle School!
