Power Trip
The leadership team also has the opportunity to attend the DECA Power Trip. DECA Power Trip, officially known as The Ultimate DECA Power Trip, is a national leadership conference hosted by DECA Inc. for high school members. Held annually in November, this multi-day event brings together thousands of students from across the country to develop leadership skills, prepare for competitive events, and connect with peers who share an interest in business and entrepreneurship. The conference serves as a kickoff to the DECA year, blending educational experiences with networking and personal growth opportunities in a high-energy environment.
Throughout DECA Power Trip, students participate in interactive workshops called learning labs, where they build skills in areas such as marketing, finance, hospitality, and leadership. Attendees also explore college and career opportunities through exhibits featuring universities and industry professionals. A key feature of the conference is the Competitive Excellence Experience, a practice competition where students perform role-play scenarios and receive feedback to help them improve before official competitions. In addition, large general sessions feature motivational speakers and recognize top performers, creating an inspiring atmosphere that encourages growth and confidence.
Beyond the structured activities, DECA Power Trip emphasizes networking and social connection. Students meet members from other chapters, interact with DECA leaders, and build friendships that often last beyond the event. Social activities, such as evening events, add a fun, memorable element to the experience. Overall, DECA Power Trip is designed to extend learning beyond the classroom by combining leadership development, real-world career exposure, and meaningful connections, making it one of the most impactful early experiences in the DECA program.
Power Trip rotates between being held in Washington, DC; Louisville, KY; San Fransico, CA; and Austin, TX.
