English 1 Honors 

Class overview

English 1 is an introductory course designed to familiarize students with essential reading, writing, and critical thinking skills needed for higher level English courses at the high school level. Throughout the course, students will become familiar and analyze important literary themes as well as study significant literary elements and informational texts to practice higher level thinking. All content for this course is based on the SC Career and Readiness Standards for English 1.

This class will provide a plethora of strategies and activities to help students work through English 1 materials. My classes strive to be student-centered, providing relevant and meaningful learning to each student. I encourage you to bring open-minds and plenty of questions as we learn together this year - you will learn quickly that some of my favorite questions always start with HOW or WHY. Despite our COVID world at the moment, I hope you are excited for an awesome 2020-2021 school year!
