School Expectations:
1. Respect Yourself
2. Respect Others
3. Respect Our School
Teachers reteach procedures and expectations daily. If a student struggles with any of these procedures or expectations, teachers will use the “Bounce Back” option with their students. The premise of the “Bounce Back” program is to get the student back on track and to minimize loss of instructional time. “Bounce Backs” are used after disruptive behaviors have been addressed within the classroom, but behavior continues to occur.
When a child is sent to “Bounce Back”, they are sent to another classroom on their same grade level. While there, they are given time to reflect on their behavior through writing or drawing on their “Bounce Back” Behavior Form. The student and the “Bounce Back” Teacher discuss the incorrect behavior and brainstorm correct behaviors that should have been used. Students return to their classroom with the form completed. At a parent’s request, teachers can copy the forms and send them home. If the student continues to misbehave he/she is sent to administration with the completed “Bounce Back” form.
Every day, students begin with a clean slate. “Bounce Backs” do not carry over from day to day.
