I grew up in Greenville, attended Hughes Middle, Greenville High, and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in studio art. For seven years, I owned and operated Kiln’ Time, a ceramics studio, where, among other things, I taught art lessons to children. In 2008, I received a Master of Arts in Teaching from Converse College and obtained my teaching certification. I have taken graduate art classes in ceramics at Northern Arizona University, Coastal Carolina and USC.
My family includes my husband, Mitchell, my nineteen year old son, Ben, and sixteen year old daughter, Helen. Additionally, we have one dog and a couple of cats.
I enjoy reading, paddle boarding, buying art, traveling, collecting sharks teeth and shells, making art, and going to the beach. I have traveled in Europe, Mexico, the American West, and South Africa. One of the most memorable travel experiences I had was visiting South Africa to work on a Habitat for Humanity project in Durban followed by a safari to Thorny Bush Game Reserve. My family has traveled on an RV trip to California. We traveled to San Francisco, Coloma, Chico, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. We have also traveled to Sweden with a few close family friends. One of my favorite memories of the trip was swimming in the Baltic Sea and eating a traditional Swedish smorgasbord.
