The Greenville County Art Museum is free. Go for a visit. Hours are Wednesday - Saturday 10 am -5 pm and Sunday 1 pm - 5 pm.
Downtown Greenville is full of public sculptures and murals. Keep your eyes open if you are on Main Street or the surrounding streets. You can start with a mouse hunt from the Hyatt and look for all the Mice on Main! Did you know the artist who did the kinetic sculpture at the 2016 Olympic flame also did a sculpture that is installed downtown. Can you find it?
Visit Open Studios (https://www.greenvillearts.com/greenville-open-studios/) in the fall. Dozens of artists open their studios and demonstrate how they make their art. One of my favorite studios is ArtBomb Studios (http://artbombstudios.com/) located on Pendleton Street. Many studios in the downtown area are also open for First Fridays (https://www.greenvillearts.com/first-fridays/) on the first Friday evening of every month. Go see where local artist work. In May, Greenville hosts Artisphere (https://artisphere.org/), a nationally known art festival. There are kids events, as well as artists from all over the nation chosen to participate and sell their art. Greenville has several local artists who participate in this event. Please go support our local art community.
Also check out ReCraft- they collect materials from upstate manufacturers, retailers, households, and institutions to be re-used in creative ways. https://www.recraftgvl.org/.
