The purpose of this course is to enable students to communicate ideas and concepts through a variety of artwork, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, arts, and crafts. A study of artists and their work will help students understand the techniques, skills, and diverse intentions of artists from many cultures and times. Students will focus on developing creative problem-solving skills, visual literacy, and personal expression.

50% of the students grade is from MAJOR class assignments including large art projects and tests.
50% of the students grade is from MINOR class assessments including art journals, homework, and smaller art projects.
Art Journals- daily entries will consist of project ideas, class notes, sketches and reflections
Art Projects- will include different art techniques and mediums covered in class
Major art projects and group projects will be completed over the course of more than two class periods.
Minor art projects and group projects will be completed in one or two class periods.
Tests- tests will be given to further assess the progress of the student
Homework- assignments will be given as needed
The following grading scale will be used
A= 100-90% B= 89-80% C= 79-70% D= 69-60% F= 59 and below
Students used a magazine picture, took half of it away, and recreated that missing half using only a regular pencil!
