What is the South Carolina Occupational Diploma/Employability Credential Program?
The Occupational Diploma/Employability Credential Program is designed to prepare students for employment immediately upon graduation. The core classes are taught with an emphasis on how these subjects relate to careers and everyday life skills. Transitional skills, social skills and self- advocacy skills are incorporated throughout the curriculum. The goal is also to assist students in meeting their educational needs as identified in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Due to the diversity of the students’ abilities and needs, a variety of instructional strategies such as whole class instruction, small group instruction, individual instruction and peer tutoring will be used. Students are required to meet the curriculum requirements and participate in work hours to earn their Credential Certificate.
More detailed information can be found on the South Carolina Credential Program website here: https://thesccredential.org/

Students are given work that is challenging based on IEP ability levels and South Carolina Employability Math Standards. We are on a 90-minute block schedule per class this school year.
Textbook and Supplemental Activities:
Parents do not need to purchase any textbooks. We use digital software such as Achieve Math, Real World Math Concepts, Financial Literacy for Teens, Khan Academy, professional teacher made worksheets for student success, and Google Classroom assignments. Pencils and paper are provided for your child, but it is alright to bring their own.
Required Materials:
Students are required to bring their charged Greenville County Schools Chromebook to school everyday for use in every class. Chargers are the student’s responsibility and loaners are not given out in class. If lost, chargers are 30 dollars.
Pencils and paper are provided in class. Math notebooks are provided in class and must stay in class to take notes daily and use for math problems.
Assessment and Grading Policy:
60% Major Grades (projects, tests)
40% Minor Grades (daily work, class participation, quizzes)
Late Work Policy:
All work must be completed in a timely manner. If you are absent, your work is required to be turned in and you are responsible for missing work. You may ask your teacher how you can make up for missed work due to an absence. Refusing assignments will result in a student conference with the teacher. On-going refusals will result in consultation with parents and a plan of action to reduce this behavior.
