My name is Carolyn Christine Burroughs-Hayes and this is my 23rd year as a teacher; sixteen of my years are as a Special Education Teacher. I taught 18 years in Welch, WV; where I was born and raised. School year 25-26 will be my second year as a Hilcrest High School family member and it is my fifth year with Greenville County School.
I graduated from Marshall University with a Master's Degree in Multi-categorical Special Education K-Adult specializing in Math instruction as well as an Autism certificate. I am highly-qualified and full certified in the following areas: Multi-Categorical, Specific Learning Disability and Emotional Disturbed.
I have experience in all levels of public education from elementary through high school. My first two years teaching, I worked as an elementary 6th grade teacher followed by my next few years as a high school special education teacher. I have experience in the self-contained setting, working in the inclusion/ co-teaching setting as well as teach classes of educational support. My experience covers all content areas of Math, ELA, Science and Social Studies. I have 3 years of experience as a Middle School Cheer Coach.
Besides being a passionate educator, I have been married for 28 years to Joseph. Together we have three children, Joseph, Zaraneisha and Zareonna; three grandchildren London, Braylon and Grayson! I love being at the beach, playing with my grandchildren and prayer and meditation.
I am excited for the opportunity to be instrumental in all of my student's lives; I look forward to getting to know you and your child!
