Welcome to Team Iceland!
Our Location: Iceland is a Nordic island country situated at the confluence of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
Our Flag: Red, Blue, and White.
· Red represents the volcanic explosions (remember the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull in 2010...creating a disturbance in air travel all over Europe).
· Blue represents the surrounding ocean.
· White represents the ice.
Our Community:
Just like Iceland, we may sometimes have volcanic explosions depending upon inner conditions and sometimes we may put up an icy shield of protection when we don’t feel comfortable. If you look deep enough and make a connection, you can bring to our surface the warm, soothing springs of Iceland. We aim to have things sail smoothly on our ocean, but sometimes the volcanoes erupt.
The literacy rate for Iceland is 99% but our goal is to reach 100%. Icelanders are known for their deep sense of community. We strive to create a productive, safe learning community by being punctual, focused, engaged, prepared, respectful, and positive. We strive to interact positively within our community. Your support of our coffee and smoothie shop provides us with opportunities to connect with our community. Icelanders have a great work ethic and place a great importance on independence and self-sufficiency. We aim to reach these heights. Icelanders have their own language and sometimes we have our own as well.
We are our own island, but we ask you to come and visit! There are many beautiful places to visit and we create wonderful learning opportunities. Our challenge to you: What will you create to make the world more awesome?
