Our Classroom Expectations
In our classroom, we create a safe, structured, and supportive environment where every student can learn and succeed. We have clear rules that guide behavior, and our teachers and staff provide consistent support, guidance, and gentle redirection when needed.
Be Respectful: Students are expected to use kind words and gentle actions toward teachers, classmates, and classroom materials. Adults provide modeling and reminders, helping students practice respectful behaviors throughout the day.
Follow Directions: Students are expected to listen carefully to teachers and staff. Adults break instructions into small steps, give visual cues, and offer repeated prompts or redirection as needed to help students stay on task.
Keep Hands and Feet to Yourself: Students are expected to maintain personal space to stay safe. Staff actively monitor interactions and provide immediate support or redirection if a student needs help regulating their behavior.
Use Materials Appropriately: Students are expected to handle classroom supplies, toys, and equipment with care. Adults model correct use, give verbal or visual cues, and gently redirect students who need reminders.
Stay in Your Area: Students are expected to remain in their assigned space unless directed to move. Staff support transitions and redirect students when necessary to maintain safety and structure.
Try Your Best: Teachers encourage students to participate in all activities and put effort into learning. Teachers provide positive reinforcement and assistance as needed to help students engage successfully.
Adults play a key role in supporting students by providing guidance, consistent reminders, and positive reinforcement. Redirection is used calmly and respectfully to help students understand expectations, make safe choices, and develop independence over time. Visual supports, schedules, and individualized prompts help ensure that every student can follow rules and participate meaningfully in classroom activities.
*Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) are always the priority when focusing on Individual expectations and rules.
