Halloween 2025
Our students were all smiles as we trick-or-treated around the school with our Best Buddies. It was so special to see everyone dressed up in their fun costumes! We used this festive activity as a chance to practice our social and communication skills — saying “trick or treat,” “thank you,” or using our trick or treat visuals!
After our morning of fun in the hallways, we brought the pumpkin patch to our very own playground! Each student had the chance to “pick” a pumpkin to take home. It was such a joyful experience watching their excitement as they searched for the perfect one.
We are so proud of how well everyone participated and how much they enjoyed celebrating together.
Dot Day
We had an exciting Dot Day celebration!
In math, students rolled large dice and carefully counted the dots, practicing number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, tens frames and addition.
For ELA, students either traced their names on dotted patterns or put dot stickers on large letters to strengthen their fine motor skills and work on letter recognition. We also enjoyed reading our favorite dot books, discovering how dots appear in stories and art.
For movement and gross motor practice, we explored the classroom carpet dots, hopping and stepping from dot to dot, looking for specific color dots. We love turning learning into an active game. We also played a variety of fun dot-themed games that encouraged turn taking and sharing.
To top it all off, we had special dot-inspired snacks!
Dinosaur Week
This week’s theme was inspired by our book How Do Dinosaurs Go to School? Our literacy and math lessons were enriched with dinosaur manipulatives, stories, and visuals. During centers, students enjoyed puzzles, educational games, and hands-on activities that kept them engaged and excited to learn.
Students also stomped and danced their way through movement time with dinosaur feet—and even wore them to P.E. while pretending to be dinosaurs! Our sensory activity and visual recipe, Fizzy Dinosaurs, was a big hit. Students used fine motor skills with droppers, made color choices, followed visual directions, and let their imaginations soar while playing with fizzing dinosaurs.
Learning really is so much fun when paired with creativity and play!
“Back to School"!
Students have been getting to know their teachers and classmates, meeting their Related Arts teachers, meeting therapists, and becoming familiar with the school environment. Students are learning to follow school rules and how to show kindness toward their peers. We are introducing important routines such as following schedules, transitioning in hallway, participating in work time, waiting in line, carrying lunch trays, and much more! Students have also enjoyed exploring the many supportive tools and resources in our classroom designed to meet their needs and create a positive school experience. Our classroom is filled with excitement as we begin a successful and engaging school year.
