Week 5 (Sept. 7)
5th - Dissolving solids into water and introducing the conservation of mass
4th - Using Snap Circuit kits to create circuits
3rd - Using pendulums to explore motion that can be predicted
2nd - Part 2 of the Minion and Chemical X Challenge
1st  - Planting seeds and reviewing the needs of plants
5K - Making shade by copying nature (the structure of trees and leaves)

Week 4 (Aug 31)
5th - Exploring the space between solids and liquids by making and observing Oobleck
4th - Making circuits with  basic compents (switches, battery holders, light bulbs, etc.)
3rd  - Modeling how balanced forces work by balancing a coin on the edge of an index card
2nd - Practicing lab safety, group work, and design principles by solving the "Chemical X" problem
1st -  Gathering plants from outside to see different examples of the parts of plants (root, stem, leaf, and flower)
5K - Learning about clouds (and touching one)

 Week 3 (Aug 24)
5th - An introduction to the states of matter and review of measuring with length (cm) and volume (ml)
4th -  Finding out how circuits work by making a flashlight out of some wire, a bulb, and a battery
3rd - Using a Hot Wheels track and loop to work with forces and motion
2nd - Classifying rocks and minerals by how they are alike and different
1st - Harvesting some plants from the ENSA garden to look at differnt examples plants
5K - Going oustide to observe and report on the weather

Week 2 (Aug 17)
5th - Working with rocks/minerals to review how to make careful observations
4th - Practice measuring carefully by measuring themselves with a partner (will re-meausre at the end of the year to see how they have grown)
3rd - Introduction to a unit on force/motion by using Hot Wheels cars primarily working with gravity and friction
2nd - Exploring our outdoor garden and looking at the flowers that have grown over the summer - allows them to see what the seeds they will plant in the spring will look like after the summer.s
1st - Working on physical properties by sorting objects based on how they are alike and different
5K - Introduction to describing the weather by going outside to experience weather and then drawing a picture to show what the weather was like.

Week 1 (Aug 11)
All grades work on science lab expectations and working well in groups through a vareity of cooperative games.
