I am pleased to teach English III CP/Honors, and English IV CP this year.
English III CP introduces literary and informational texts that reflect a broad range of writing by American authors, as well as United States literature and literary nonfiction, including foundational works and documents from the 17th century through the early 20th century. The English III CP curriculum features selections reflecting major themes found in literature and nonfiction. Writing instruction will be integrated within the literary studies as students attempt to model an author's style and write persuasively, analytically, and argumentatively about what they have read. Grammar, mechanics, usage, and spelling will be taught through mini-lessons integrated with the writing instruction. This course is designed to prepare students for the rigors of the newly adopted South Carolina English Standards and promote College and Career readiness.
