Even though winter can seem like a very long season, there are many musical activities pertaining to the weather and to various holidays for students to enjoy. While students are engaged and having fun, they are also learning skills that align with adapted music standards.
Students began the third quarter by celebrating the new year with a traditional Scottish song, “Auld Lang Syne,” which means “old time since” or “for old time’s sake.” This song presented vocally by Mrs. Dail with her keyboard, sung by a popular artist, and presented by the Peanuts characters encouraged everyone to say, “goodbye,” to the old year and “hello” to 2026! Students were encouraged to remember their friends (or acquaintances) and to get ready to make some new friendships in the new year. Students enjoyed using party hats, noise makers, colored beads and tambourines, as they celebrated along with the music. Using the globe, students learned that all around the world, it is a new year. Even though people may celebrate differently, they will all enjoy music, such as the song, “Auld Lang Syne.” Even though winter can seem like a very long season, there are many musical activities pertaining to the weather and to various holidays for students to enjoy.
