  A Little Fun with a Snowman Song, Resonator Bells, and the Xylophone


Even though winter can seem like a very long season, there are many musical activities pertaining to the weather and to various holidays for students to enjoy. While students are engaged and having fun, they are also learning adapted music standards.  

Students began the third quarter by celebrating the new year. A traditional song, “Auld Lang Syne,” meaning “old time since” in Scottish, or “for the sake of old times,” encouraged everyone to say, “goodbye,” to the old year and to remember the many friendships (or acquaintances) we have enjoyed. Maybe, as the folk song says, we will “make new friends…” in the new year. Students enjoyed playing instruments along with the keyboard, as Mrs. Dail varied the tempo of the traditional New Year’s song by playing slowly, and then fast with an added drum track. Students learned that an upbeat, fast tempo lifts our spirits and makes us feel better...
