Hi! My name is Julie Dail. I am the adapted music teacher here at Washington Center. I am married with three grown children. I enjoy spending time with my family, making music, reading, and working in my yard.
I am a graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA with a degree in Music Education. My primary instrument is the piano, with a minor in voice. I also play the flute. In December of 2013, I completed my Master of Music in Music Education degree at Anderson University. My previous school music teaching experience includes: Irving Christian Academy, Irving, TX; Roquemore Elementary School, Arlington, TX; St. Andrews School, Savannah, GA; and Discovery School, Lancaster, SC.
I have also been employed using my music skills in other areas. I have been an instrumental accompanist in several churches as well as a music director too. For many years, I also maintained a private piano studio in my home.
On a volunteer/community level, I have been a church vocal soloist and children's and youth choir director. I have also had the privilege of singing with the Savannah Symphony Chorus (with some featured solo work), the York County Chorus, the Lancaster Chamber Choir (including some featured solo work), and the North Greenville University Concert Choir. I have also played my flute with the Southern Wesleyan University Wind Ensemble. Currently, I participate in, and am the president of a large state-wide women's choir, called SeraphSong, that travels to locations all over South Carolina to perform sacred concerts. These musical opportunities have, and continue to enrich my life.
I am very excited to begin my 19th year teaching music here at Washington Center. I love working with students with disabilities! There are so many creative ways to share the joy of music. During the 2015 - 2016 school year, I was selected as the Teacher of the Year for WC.
This year, there will continue to be many enjoyable and interesting things to do in adapted music classes! There will be songs to sing, and instruments to play. There will also be games, activities, moving, and listening. I know we will enjoy and discover much, as we make music together.
