Geometry with Statistics is a high school–level course designed for 9th-grade students and serves as the first step in South Carolina’s mathematics sequence under the 2025 College- and Career-Ready Standards. This course emphasizes spatial reasoning, logical thinking, and the foundational principles of geometry, while also integrating key statistical concepts. Students will explore congruence, similarity, transformations, coordinate geometry, right triangle trigonometry, and the relationships between two- and three-dimensional figures. Throughout the course, students will also engage with real-world data through descriptive statistics, probability, and data analysis tasks, reinforcing mathematical connections and modeling. Instruction is guided by South Carolina’s Mathematical Process Standards, encouraging students to problem-solve, communicate reasoning, identify patterns, and connect concepts across domains. Geometry with Statistics provides the concrete and visual reasoning skills necessary for success in Algebra 1, ensuring students are prepared for more abstract mathematical thinking in subsequent coursework.
Students will get to participate in several individual and collaborative tasks throughout the semester to complete assignments. Through the Project/Problem-Based instruction approach, students are equipped with 21st century skills that will help them as they move toward graduation and beyond.
