This is my twentieth year teaching. I've taught middle school ELA, and elementary general education. I've been teaching Challenge in Greenville County for the last ten years. I am from Hartsville, SC, and moved to Greenville to attend Furman University as an English Major. I've lived in Greenville ever since. I have a Master's in Elementary Education. I love to learn new things, and have since received National Board and GT certifications.
I'm passionate about helping students hone their strengths and tackle their perceived weaknesses. I believe in helping students follow their curiosity to find where their gifts meet the needs of our world. In the classroom, this looks like having high expectations, a flexible curriculum, lots of interaction, and an emphasis on wonder and growth. Our classroom will be characterized by reading challenging texts, discussion, arts integration, and writing. Our math curriculum will be student-paced and centered around analytic reasoning.
I love being a teacher! Outside of school, I spend lots of time with my fun, silly family: two daughters (8 & 11) and my husband. We love spending time with our extended family, traveling, playing board games, and having movie nights! In my free time, I like writing, reading, painting, cooking, learning new things, and running.
