The ProStart Program in conjunction with SC Restaurant and Lodging Educational Foundation (SCRELF) of the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (SCLRA) and the South Carolina Department of Education introduces high school students to careers in the food service industry and teaches them the essential skills and knowledge they need to be successful in the hospitality industry. These objectives are accomplished through on the job mentoring coupled with a dynamic and comprehensive curriculum.
There are many opportunities for the students to do competitions in production, menu management, and managerial training. Students will be able to take part in Co-Op work studies, and also be eligible for numerous scholarships. Curriculum is based off the ProStart's Foundations of Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts, volumes I and II.
