I will strive to teach in a way that all can understand, yet challenge the student in such a way that they feel the accomplishment when the material is learned. I will show the amount of work it takes to be a professional in this industry and set the student on their way to a successful career. I will do this all with a open mind to change, adapt, and give fairness so that all feel welcome in the class and overall enjoy it.
About Me:
My name is Elijah Edwards, native of the upstate of South Carolina. I have worked the food industry for 20 years, with 3 of those years at Greenville Technical Culinary Institute of the Carolina's. When I went from industry to education, I fell in love with how rewarding it was to teach someone how to cook, and the happiness it brought to the student when something just made sense. I graduated from the Culinary Institute of Charleston, where I was given the opportunity to work with a highly acclaimed chef for three years following him from Peninsula Grill to catering and opening a fine dining establishment. When I moved back to the upstate, I found myself catering and helping open yet another restaurant with a successful restaurateur. From there, I saw that I was striving for even more from food, and I decided that teaching others was my official calling. After my three years working at Greenville Tech's culinary school as a teacher's assistant and adjunct instructor, I was recommended for the position here at Golden Strip and took it with much excitement. I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and love for food with students, and will do everything in my power to set them on their way to a successful career in Culinary Arts!
