Each student is given one-on-one vocal training in both master class and private instruction settings. Students will study vocal technique, singer's diction in English, Italian, French, and German, as well as a wide range of musical repertoire spanning classical and musical theater genres. In addition, students will train as "singing actors" which will incorporate acting techniques that will help them become communicative, versatile, and creative vocal artists. Singers in the program will receive basic keyboard skills woven in to the class structure taught by collaborative pianist, Sherry Parrini. Music Theory is a required elective for the vocalists in the program. Music Theory education is essential to becoming a strong musician. Students receive college level training that will prepare them for higher education. Several exciting performance opportunities will be available to the voice students such as recitals, regional competitions, fully staged scenes programs, and master classes with guest artists from around the country.

Audition required for participation: No. Students will have the opportunity to move up in the higher sections of chorus through choral director recommendation/audition while being in Chorus I. *If a middle school program offers Chorus I, then based on the recommendation of that middle school choral director, placing a freshman in Chorus II will be discussed and reviewed between middle and high school director. There will need to be a pitch matching exercise, tonal memory, and recommendation from their middle school choral director.

Time Commitment: Chorus I will be responsible for a couple of mandatory performances throughout the semester. Most extra rehearsals will be scheduled during the school day for Chorus I. There could be morning sectionals if needed, but not on a regular basis. The director is always willing to work with anyone having a scheduling conflict.
Costs/Fees: Students will be responsible for purchasing their own concert attire. This will be a cost under $100. The director will work with students to help with cost if that is an issue, sometimes through sponsors or attire passed down from past students.

Varsity Women's Choir is an auditioned choir for young ladies. Rising freshmen may register to audition.
