Health &  Physical Education

Mission

Through a  standards-based health and physical education program, our mission is to promote lifelong learning through physical activity, fitness, &  sport while supporting students in making health-conscious decisions, meeting challenges, and participating in mentally positive behaviors.  We believe that through a comprehensive and quality program, our students will develop into individuals who value physical activity and maintain physically active lifestyles, becoming proficient in a variety of activities and competent in many while developing the understanding and knowledge of health topics. Our students will demonstrate personal responsibility, character, integrity, and respect for others in the classroom, gymnasium, and in life.

Curriculum and Course Description 

6th grade Physical Education/Health

This two-component class includes physical education and health.  In physical education, students have the opportunity for physical development in the areas of strength, flexibility, coordination, endurance, balance, agility, range of motion, and power.  Students are introduced to the fundamentals of team and individual sports, which include skills, rules, and game strategies. This diverse program allows students the opportunity to develop individual skills and to be introduced to new, enjoyable experiences for lifelong physical fitness and well-being. The health curriculum includes units of Personal & Community Health; Nutrition; Tobacco & Rx and OTC Drugs; Safety & Injury Prevention; Mental/Emotional & Social Health; and Sexual Health and Character& Responsibility Education.  

The overall course provides students with the information needed to make healthy decisions.

 7th grade Physical Education/Health
