English I Honors

1st

Course Philosophy

This is a rigorous high school-level and credit course that will challenge the way you think. The reading and writing is frequent and requires a plethora of independent thinking. Regardless that you will learn to be individually committed to the work, you will also learn from listening and learning from each other. We will function as a community.

This class requires you to be open minded, and ultimately learn to express your voice and hear the voice of others through thoughts, ideas, and observations. If you actively engage yourself in this class and complete all of the work, you will have taken leaps toward preparing yourself for high school and beyond.

SC State Standards

Here is a link to the English 1 South Carolina College & Career Ready English Language Arts (ELA) Standards including inquiry, reading, writing, and communication.

These standards are designed to identify, evaluate, synthesize, and create the most high-quality, and rigorous education to prepare students for post secondary education life, which my curriculum and instruction both align and adhere to.
