Greenville County schools encourages students to participate in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's). According to the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education, participation in CTSO leadership and professional development activities raises students' educational aspiration. Students who participate in CTSO's have higher academic engagement, motivation, and are more likely to be enrolled in college. Students involved with a CTSO develop civic engagement and career self-efficacy which transfers to valuable employment skills. CTSO's align with the 16 Career Clusters and the 79 Career Pathways recognized by Career and Technical Education.
