Dear Families,
Welcome to November! I continue to be incredibly impressed by the hard work and engagement I see from the students every day. Thank you for your continued partnership!
This past month, students learned about and examined self-portraits by famous artists. We looked closely at how artists use elements like color, light, shadow, and expression to convey identity.
This month, students will apply those observations as they plan and create their very own self-portraits. This project challenges them not only artistically but also encourages self-reflection. I look forward to seeing their creative masterpieces!
In October, students successfully finished learning the problem-solving strategy “Work Backwards” and practiced applying it using inverse operations (like how addition undoes subtraction).
This month, we are moving on to the “Make a Table” strategy, which helps organize information to find patterns and solutions. Following this, we will begin a comprehensive review of all the problem-solving strategies learned so far this year to ensure they have a strong toolkit for any challenge!
I am excited about the learning opportunities this month holds!
