Welcome to Health and Physical Education. I am excited to have you in my class this semester. I am in my 29th year of teaching. I am passionate about helping students find ways to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I look forward to spending time with you and providing some lifetime sports opporunities so that you too can live a long and healthy life. I hope to make your semester a fun, engaging, and positive experience. Let's Go Mustangs!
All students in our Physical Education classes must have shoes that are made for athletic competition. The shoes must be able to be tied. Due to the activities played students must have proper, athletic shoes. Hiking boots, Toms, Bobs, Crocs, high platform tennis shoes, or UGG tennis shoes may not be worn. We will not be using the locker rooms. Students may change their clothes on the day we run the mile. However, the school dress code still applies to the clothes that they bring to wear. If you have any questions, please contact me. I will be happy to assist.
Parent/Guardian communication will be established through, phone calls, letters, e-mail, progress reports, fitness achievement reports and conferences.

Assignment Submission
Students are expected to submit all minor and major assignments assigned. Major assessments and assignments considered required assignments for the course.
Missing Work Due to Not Handed In
Assigned work that is not handed in by the due date will be recorded in the gradebook as a code of NHI. The code of NHI equates to a score of zero in the gradebook.
Missing Work Due to Student Absences
Work missed because of an excused absence will be recorded as MDA.
Students have five (5) school days after returning from an excused absence to submit missed work unless alternative arrangements are made because of an extended absence or other extenuating circumstances. If alternative arrangements have not been made with the teacher, a grade of zero will be recorded as the grade for the missing work.
Re-take Policy
Students will have the opportunity to retake any major assessment. Once grades for the assessment are posted, the student will have five days to complete the school Google Form indicating they intend to retake the assessment. The teacher will provide a reteaching opportunity, and schedule a time for the student to complete the retake. Essays, projects and performances that are assigned major assessment grades are not eligible for a retake. Individual teachers will not establish separate procedures. Students may request a retake, redo, or revision of an eligible major assessment.
To qualify, the student must:
Submit the school’s Retake/Redo Request Form within five school days of the grade being posted.
Have submitted all minor assignments associated with the instructional unit.
Complete teacher-directed remediation or relearning before reassessment.
Coordinate the reassessment with the teacher during an agreed-upon intervention time.Only major assessments are eligible for retake, redo, or revision.
All reassessments must be completed by the end of the grading period in which the original assessment was assigned.

Human Growth and Sexuality Exemption
The Sexual Health and Responsibility Education Unit will be taught for 5-6 days beginning November 30-December 11, 2026 by the PE department to students currently enrolled in PE. A general overview and outline of the district’s age appropriate, abstinence-based sexual health & responsibility education curriculum can be viewed on the district website under the Students & Parents Heading then scrolling to the Comprehensive Health & Physical Education link or by clicking on the link below. Complete details including the slide presentation and videos can be previewed at the school anytime during the school day if you would like to view it. If you do not want your child to participate in the sexual health & responsibility unit or a specific portion of the unit, you must bring the signed exemption form (https://drive.google.com/file/d/15V2cGQAtNc-3JGVJ69TJHLhi6jZoy98g/view) to the front office in person. By School Board Policy and SC Comprehensive Health Education Law, students who exempt sexual health & responsibility education will be required to complete other health-related self-study lessons.
