What's New for 2023-2024?
This year we will not allow any water bottles in the gymnasium. We have water fountains available in the gymnasium. Students have access to these fountains the entire time that they are in the gymnasium. We encourage students to use the outside water fountain when we are on the fields. However, they may take their water bottle out if needed. Last year, water bottles were a huge distraction particularly in the gymnasium. This year we encourage students to leave their bottles in the locker room. If a student needs water, they may use the water fountains provided. The only exception to this rule will be when we go outside particularly on the Mile Run day.
All students in our Physical Education classes must have shoes that are made for athletic competition. The shoes must be able to be tied. Due to the activities played students must have proper, athletic shoes. Hiking boots, Toms, Bobs, Crocs, high platform tennis shoes may not be worn. If you have any questions, please contact me. I will be happy to assist.
Our Human Growth and Sexuality unit will be taught for the second semester the weeks of January 29-February 9, 2024. It is a South Carolina State law that we teach these classes. You as a parent may come into the school and sit in the front office to review the material during the week prior to this unit if you would like. Our materials preview week will be January 22-26, 2024. You may also access the curriculum on the School District webpage under the Comprehensive Health Act. All students enrolled in a general PE/Health class will be taking this class during their scheduled Physical Education class time. If you would like your child to not attend this 10 day unit and instead complete a separate unit, you must complete the below form. This form is also on the school website. The form must be brought into the school by the parent. We may not except an email or your child bringing the form in.
