The overall goal of the physical education program at Woodland Elementary School is to provide students with a wide variety of experiences that will inspire them to develop and enhance the skills necessary to live a life of physical activity.
Standard #1: The student will demonstrate competence in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
Standard #2: The student will demonstrate understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performing of physical activities.

Students are expected to participation in Physical Education class. In order to fully participate, tennis shoes are required so students can safely be involved in all class activities.

The teacher will use a numbering system to quickly check attendance. Each student will be assigned a number on the floor. The teacher will do a visual check of each spot to quickly determine who is absent.

First offense : Student will receive a verbal warning.
Second offense : Student will sit out of P.E. activity for a short time.
Third offense : Student will be removed from activity. The related arts discipline process may be initiated.
Communication - Parental Communication will be done in a variety of ways. Phone calls, personal contact, notes, and letters that will be sent home will all inform the parent/guardian of how his/her child is doing in school. My physical education website will also be updated to include any new developments and all upcoming events.
Students will be allowed to use the restroom only in emergencies and to get water (from their own water bottle) as needed during activities. They will be expected to come into the gym quietly and sit down without touching any of the equipment that is set up. Student will stop, look, & listen for instructions whenever a whistle is blown. The homeroom teacher will lead students to and from class.
