Weight training is an effective tool for improving and/or maintaining strength, endurance, and overall fitness. It involves controlled movements of skeletal muscle in an effort to move an external load. This can be accomplished by using machines, free-weights, and exercises involving body weight. Individuals participating in a weight training program can expect improvement in body tone and strength. Incorporating a weight training program as part of a complete fitness plan will contribute to increased weight loss/control, balance and coordination, and a better overall sense of well-being.

As a class (when required), all sections will utilize a provided Google Meet link established prior to class time. Information will be provided on your Google Classroom's Stream before to the meeting time. Be sure to check your stream, especially mornings designated as eLearning days.
Students who train in the Athletic Weight Room will work in teams of 2 or 3, to ensure the highest level of safety when working with heavy weight. Once the weight reaches near max, spotting will take place to ensure the athletes safety, and reduce the threat of a training-related injury.
