WIN is an employment skills assessment system. Employers use WIN® to measure workplace skills of employees and job applicants. Schools and colleges also use WIN to prepare students for the workplace.
WIN is made up of several assessment tests that measure different kinds of employment-related skills. Three assessments demonstrate basic skills:
Applied Mathematics
Reading for Information
Locating Information
Also known as the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, this multiple-choice test is used by the U.S. Military to assess aptitude for enlistment and various military jobs. The test is divided into four main domains (Verbal, Math, Science/Technical, and Spatial), with 10 different areas of focus.
The 10 areas of focus:
General Science
Arithmetic Reasoning
Word Knowledge
Paragraph Comprehension
Mathematics Knowledge
Electronics Information
Auto and Shop Information
Mechanical Comprehension
Assembling Objects
Coding Speed (only on the computer-based version)
Even if a student is not interested in serving in the military, the ASVAB is a great way to explore possible career pathways and options.
