Concert Performance Assessment

What is Concert Performance Assessment?

 The South Carolina Concert Performance Assessment is designed for middle school and high school band ensembles.  These assessments allow students and directors an opportunity to perform for state and nationally known adjudicators for comments and ratings on prepared repertoire.  This event also has a sight-reading element for all high school ensembles as well as those middle school ensembles who might want to take advantage of the experience.  

How are students graded?

The students' performance will receive one of five ratings: Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair, or Poor. Judges will be paying special attention to the ensemble's tone, intonation, rhythmic precision, musical effect, performance positon, and formal presentation. Each of the catagories listed above will be judged on a scale of 1-5.

The performance will be a field trip during the school day, so students will travel as a group by school bus.
