ACT & SAT

Many colleges are making their admissions process Test Optional for the upcoming application year. This means students who want to provide an SAT or ACT score may do so, but students who do not have a score or do not want to submit a score are not required to for admissions purposes. Please check the college's admissions website to see if a test score is required or if they are test optional. Some Scholarships such as the SC state Palmetto Fellows and Life Scholarships still require a test score.

Some colleges do require a standardized test score as part of the admissions process. Students often take the ACT or SAT after they have completed Algebra 2 or during their junior and senior year of high school. Students may take the ACT or SAT more than once if they want to try to improve their scores. Students can register for the ACT or the SAT test on the respective company's website. The RHS school code is 410951. Colleges often use these scores to make help make admissions or scholarship decisions, but other colleges are test optional. Please go to the website of the college you're interested in for more details.

Prepmedian is an Education App in the student Backpack portal that students can use to practice and prepare for taking the SAT or ACT. Students can also use online practice sites such as Khan Academy or use test practice books available from public libraries or bookstores.
