Daily Supplies (I expect you to have these when you come to class every day):

✔Pen
 ✔Pencil
 ✔Sketchbook (standard size - 9"x12")
 ✔A good attitude and an open mind

Expectations:

Per district policy: No Cellphones or ear buds in sight during class time
 Per district policy: Please adhere to the dress code

Be on time to class
 Be ready to learn when you walk through my door
 Be prepared: please bring your daily materials
 Be in your assigned seat. This will help me take quick attendance and allow us to spend more time working!
 Begin work when the bell rings! Some days we will have sketch assignments before the bell, some days we will get straight to the project.
 Always clean up after yourself. And others. And help them. Be a good person.
 Treat everyone in the room with respect.
 Have an open mind. We will learn new things. We will try new things. They will not be the same as everyone else. This is ok!
 Work hard. Try. If I see that you have tried, I will be more willing to help you solve the problem
 Familiarize yourself with the rules and procedures from the syllabus.

Art Fee(s):

💰 The fee for all art classes is $25 for each class
 💲 Art fees help to ensure students have high quality art-making materials
 💲To be allowed to participate in and receive credit for an art class the fee must be paid!
 💲 If there is a case of financial stress, students can talk to their teacher and make arrangements to participate in a fundraising activity to pay for their art fee
 💲 This fee will cover items needed for the art class that are provided by the school
 This fee does not cover daily supplies (sketchbook, pencil, good attitude, and open mind)
 This fee does not cover specialized materials  (e.g. glitter glue, gel pens, etc.)
 💲 The department holds fundraising events all year so the students can use high quality materials and media throughout the year.
 Please join and participate in Art Club to help with these activities
 💲 A quick response to the art fee would be greatly appreciated so that the necessary supplies can be ordered as soon as possible!

Dear Parent / Guardian:

I am looking forward to working with your student this year at Mann! 

I am a true believer in open communication. If you have any questions or issues that you would like to discuss, please call me at my desk at 864-355-4989 or by e-mail at rgrim@greenville.k12.sc.us . I prefer email contacts to phone calls. I keep copies of my course syllabi, and other important information for each class on my school website: https://sites.google.com/greenvilleschools.us/art910 .

I am available for extra help each Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 8:00 - 8:30. I am available other times by appointment. 

Your student will soon bring home an Art Supplies Sheet that will explain the materials and costs related to the class they are taking. Please pay your child’s art class fee as soon as possible online via our school’s website - go to My SchoolBucks and follow the prompts to find your child’s classes and associated fees. I appreciate your cooperation in this. If you have any supplies you would like to donate, I’ve included a list of things we need in our department. In addition, your child should be prepared with a pencil and sketchbook (9x12) for drawing and note taking every day. 

We will discuss our classroom rules, procedures, and policies early in the school year. Students will bring home a parent contact sheet with these listed out. Please read this with your student and be sure you are both familiar with everything listed there. The completed sheet will be returned by students as the first grade of the semester. You, your student, and I will be working together to keep the classroom orderly and running smoothly.

I am happy to excuse your student from class when you pre-arrange his or her absence with the school office. Please understand that your student must make up any class work that he or she misses to meet deadlines. If special arrangements will be needed due to long-term illness or other extraordinary circumstances, please contact me. I would encourage all students to turn in any work before their planned absence.

This will be an exciting year at Mann! Thank you for the privilege of working with your student.
