"My goal is to teach students to be lifelong learners who teach themselves." Mrs. Grim
Each student will learn, discover, experience and explore art to understand cultures, expression and the idea that art involves global skills and knowledge by critiquing, discussing, and creating one’s own artwork.

I am a true believer in open communication. If you have any questions or issues that you would like to discuss, please call me at my desk at 864-355-4989 or by e-mail at rgrim@greenville.k12.sc.us .
I check messages as often as I am able, however email is the most effective and quickest way for me to communicate. I also keep copies of my course syllabi, and other important information for each class on my school website: https://sites.google.com/greenvilleschools.us/art910 .
I am available for extra help each Tuesday and Thursday morning, from 8:00--8:30. I am available other times by appointment.
Your student should have or soon will have an Art Supplies Sheet that will explain the materials and costs related to the class they are taking. Please pay your child’s art class fee as soon as possible online via our school’s website--go to My SchoolBucks and follow the prompts to find your child’s classes and associated fees. I appreciate your cooperation in this. The class fees cover necessary materials for a successful art class. If you have any supplies you would like to donate, I’ve included a list of things we need in our department. In addition to the supplies I will provide, your child should be prepared with a pencil and sketchbook for drawing and note taking every day.
Please discuss with your student the classroom rules, procedures, and policies we cover early in the semester. It is the student’s responsibility to keep the space clean and organized as the art room truly belongs to them. As a steward of your student’s work space I appreciate all the help and support from home you will be providing.
I am happy to excuse your student from class when you pre-arrange his or her absence with the school office. Art is a very hands-on class, work is done in the classroom, and there is minimal if any homework. Therefore I encourage you to have your student in class as often and regularly as possible as many projects are challenging to complete at home. Please understand that your student must make up any class work that he or she misses. If special arrangements will be needed due to long-term illness or other extraordinary circumstances, please contact me. I would encourage all students to turn in any work before their planned absence.
This will be an exciting year at Mann! Thank you for the privilege of working with your student.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Grim
