"They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself." A. Warhol
π Please do not talk when anyone else is addressing the group
π Please keep talking to a quiet minimum during work time
π Focus on your art first!
There may be times you can work on other subjects, but please focus on completing your art assignment(s) first.
If you complete your work early, do your clean up, and then check for a sketch-book challenge.
π Please don't leave my class.
Bathroom emergency - ok
Rendezvous outside the class - not ok
Anything else, check with me! We abide by the Smart Pass system implemented during 2022
Only One Out procedure - you guessed it! Only one student may leave my class at a time.
π Please abide byΒ school rules regarding your Chromebook and personal device(s)
As of Spring 2024, cell phones and ear buds are no long permitted in the classroom. They should be stored where teachers cannot see them during class time. Failure to adhere may result in an ISS.
π Please observe school rules in my classroom.
π¬ I may contact parents regarding your behavior, be it positive or negative
π¬ Disrespectful and disruptive behavior may result in a private student / teacher conference, and/or detention or referral as determined by the circumstance
π¬ I document things! (I will keep confidential behavior records for each student)
π Please be sure you turn in all projects in the place / manner which I have requested
π Projects will be graded following rubrics available in the Google Classroom(s)
π Due dates will be given when the project is assigned and discussed
π Remember! You lose points for late work! Please turn it in on time!
π Please give me a week from the due date to return the work.
If you would like to discuss or challenge my grading, I welcome the discussion after class, during my open office hours, or via email.
I will listen to your arguments with an open mind, but we will not have this discussion during class time.
β° I will take attendance within the first five minutes of each class.
If you are not present when I take attendance, you will be marked absent until you arrive. Upon your arrival, your attendance will automatically be updated by the HERO system implemented during the 2023-24 school year.
β° Please be respectful of my time and your classmate's time (read: please don't bother others by staring in my door, creating a disturbance, etc.)
β° If I have closed and locked my door, please knock politely and wait patiently to be let in.
------------------------------
π You really need to be in class every day. Art is hands-on and it is difficult to make up the missed time.
π
If you will be out for a known absence, please discuss it with me prior to the absence and turn your work in before the due date.
π If you have to miss school, you are allowed absences for non-medical reasons.
If you know ahead of time you will miss my class, please talk to me about what you will miss before you miss the class time (e.g. sports or testing absence, etc.)
π You are allowed additional days for medical absences.
These must be medical, and are additional to the above non-medical days.
You must turn in a signed medical note to the attendance clerk upon your return to school
If you do not return with a medical note, you must make up Seat Time Recovery which includes a monetary cost.
Tardies to class will also add up to Seat Time Recovery, as determined and documented by the HERO system.
π If you exceed the allowed number of absences, you must pay for and complete Seat Time Recovery to keep your class' credit.
If you do not pay for and complete Seat Time Recovery, you will be denied credit for the class(es) with too many absences
You may meet with an administrator if you feel you should still be given credit for the class(es)
π You must make up all work missed during your absence(s)
You are given one week to make up projects, tests, and quizzes you missed during an excused (or, let's be honest, unexcused) absence.
π
I will adhere to J. L. Mann's Unexcused late work policy
π
Due dates will be strictly observed.
π
If you will be out for a known absence, please discuss it with me prior to the absence and turn your work in before the due date.
