Algebra 3
Online Course
Syllabus
INTRODUCTION
This course is a state approved Algebra 3 course. The content covered in the course is the same as that covered in Algebra 3 class in a regular classroom setting. This course is designed to provide students with one unit of credit in mathematics. Some things I want you to know for this course.
1) I will give you a math notebook. All of the notes you take can be used on the tests, so it is important for you to keep all of your math together in one place. DO NOT put any other subjects in this notebook.
2) Each lesson has either a power point or a video. It is important that you go through these and TAKE NOTES. Again, notes can be used on tests.
3) Please, please, please READ the instructions for each assignment. I will tell you important things, like if you need to graph on graph paper, or if you need to do your work on notebook paper to turn in.
4) For some lessons, you will need a calculator. Make sure to read the directions on each lesson. I will let you know when you need a calculator and provide one for you to use.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY
Students are expected to uphold the integrity of the Greenville County School District’s standard of conduct, specifically in regards to academic honesty. All forms of academic honesty, including, but not limited to, cheating on assignments/tests, plagiarism and falsification of information, will call for disciplinary action. Disciplinary action imposed may include one or more of the following: written reprimand, loss of credit for assignment/test, termination from the course, and/or probation, suspension from the online learning environment/virtual school.
COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENTS
Students will receive NO floor grade for individual assignments, but a floor grade of 50 will be applied to the first nine weeks grade. If a student fails an assignment, One (1) redo per assignment is issued and the grades of the first and second attempt will be averaged to compute the final score.
Because you can receive a redo on every assignment, I am going to require you to attempt it the first time on your own. If you do poorly the first time, call me over and I will help you on your second attempt.
The final grade average consists of major grades, and minor grades. The percentages for each category are as follows:
Major grades (Unit tests) = 60%
Minor grades (Lesson worksheets) = 40%
GRADE CALCULATION
Grades will be calculated in accordance with Greenville County School policy. The grading scale is as follows:
A: 90 – 100
B: 80 – 89
C: 70 – 79
D: 60 – 69
F: Below 60
