Algebra II
Online Course Syllabus
INTRODUCTION
This course is a state approved Algebra II course. The content covered in the course is the same as that covered in an Algebra II class in a regular classroom setting. This course is designed to provide students with one unit of credit in mathematics. Some things I want you to know for this course.
1) I will give you a math notebook. All of the notes you take can be used on the tests, so it is important for you to keep all of your math together in one place. DO NOT put any other subjects in this notebook.
2) Each lesson has either a power point or a video. It is important that you go through these and TAKE NOTES. Again, notes can be used on tests.
3) Please, please, please READ the instructions for each assignment. I will tell you important things, like if you need to graph on graph paper, or if you need to do your work on notebook paper to turn in.
4) For some lessons, you will need a calculator. Make sure to read the directions on each lesson. I will let you know when you need a calculator and provide one for you to use.

COURSE CONTENT
Algebra II course competencies are presented for a one-year traditional or one-semester block course that meets the state Algebra II standards. Algebra II contains an in-depth study of functions, patterns, relations and concepts of number systems. Included in this study are linear, quadratic, exponential, absolute value, radical and rational functions. Conic sections are also addressed.
The course consists of 9 units, as listed below.
ü Unit One: Modeling with Equations and Inequalities
ü Unit Two: Linear Relations and Functions
ü Unit Three: System of Equations and Inequalities
ü Unit Four: Quadratic Equations and Relations
ü Unit Five: Polynomials and Polynomial Functions
ü Unit Six: Inverse and Radical Functions
ü Unit Seven: Exponentials and Logarithms
ü Unit Eight: Rational Equations and Functions
ü Unit Ten: Sequences and Series
COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENTS
Students will receive NO floor grade for individual assignments, but a floor grade of 50 will be applied to first nine weeks. If a student fails an assignment, One (1) redo per assignment is issued and the grades of the first and second attempt will be averaged to compute the final score.
Because you can receive a redo on every assignment, I am going to require you to attempt it the first time on your own. If you do poorly the first time, call me over and I will help you on your second attempt.
The final grade average consists of major grades, and minor grades. The percentages for each category are as follows:
Major grades (Unit tests) = 60%
Minor grades (Lesson worksheets) = 40%
