The mission of Air Force Junior ROTC is to "Develop citizens of character." JROTC is not a military recruiting program. Cadets are never under any obligation to join the military.
AFJROTC is a Title 10, US Code-mandated citizenship training program that is designed to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill personal responsibility, character, and self-discipline. The program achieves this through classroom education in air and space fundamentals and hands-on learning opportunities in a number of fun and challenging extracurricular activities.
Cadets participate in physical activity and team sports on Fridays, and may be eligible to attend overnight field trips to leadership, aviation and space-related locations. All cadets are required to meet military grooming standards and wear the Air Force-issued uniform once a week for the entire school day. If you would like to know more about the program, ask a cadet or contact one of the instructors.
As we work to foster a sense of opportunity, unity, and school spirit among our students, AFJROTC will no longer offer students the uniform opt-out program option starting with the 2026-2027 school year.
Full Program participant. All students will enroll as a Full Program participant. Full Program participants will be issued a SC-954 polo shirt, camouflage uniform, and blue uniform (as required) for the semester plus a physical training uniform. Additionally, on designated days, cadets are authorized to wear Professional Citizen Attire (PCA) which will consist of the issued SC-954 polo shirt, their own GCS-approved pants or shorts, and close-toed shoes with an enclosed back (No Crocs or equivalent). It is FREE to be an AFJROTC Full Program participant.
